Glow was a project that supported integrations with Twitter and Facebook and a handful of social web standards, and was abandoned, site last archived in 2013.
Its glow.io domain appears to have been sold to an AI startup as of 2026.
Standards that were supported: Activity Streams, Salmon, PubSubHubbub, and Portable Contacts per 2011-05-27 post.
Glow was currently limited to glow.io subdomains if you want to try it out. At some point it was planned to be opened it up to any host/domain.
Unclear if Glow source was ever available anywhere or if it was only a service you could use on a subdomain.
Folks that were using it on their own site:
- Darren Bounds, author of glow, profile dbounds.glow.io/profile (Internet Archive link) was last updated in 2011.
Other instances / earlier work:
- ooava.com (domain abandoned) was a personal project social node for publishing (photos, videos, status updates) and conversation on the web and Android. ooava was a personal site that evolved into the glow project.
