Description: "I'm telling you my dream job, and I want to hear yours. Developer, astronaut, CEO, game designer, chef, anything goes."
🎤 The question: If money, fear, and "be realistic" didn't exist, what job would you wake up excited to do every single day?
I'll go first. Then it's your turn. 👇
🎯 My Dream Job
const me = {
dreamJob: "Founder & CEO",
company: "My own startup",
status: "Building toward it. Every. Single. Day.",
fuel: ["dedication fire 🔥", "curiosity 🔍", "stubbornness 💪"],
};
console.log(`${me.dreamJob} of ${me.company}`);
// → "Founder & CEO of My own startup"
Yes, I want to be the person who starts with a blank editor and a wild idea, and ends up with a company that real people use, love, and work at. 🌱➡️🌳
🤔 Why Founder & CEO?
1. I want to build things that matter.
As developers we already turn ideas into reality with a keyboard. A founder takes it one step further: you pick which problem deserves to be solved.
2. The learning curve is a vertical wall, and I love it. 🧗
In one day a founder might be:
| 🕘 Time | 🎭 Role |
|---|---|
| 9:00 AM | Product Manager |
| 11:00 AM | Developer (fixing a production bug) |
| 1:00 PM | Salesperson |
| 3:00 PM | Designer (yes, you picked that button color) |
| 5:00 PM | Recruiter |
| 8:00 PM | Therapist (for yourself) |
| 11:00 PM | Developer again 😅 |
Where else do you get that many careers in one job?
3. Ownership. 🔑
Every decision, win, and failure is yours. It's terrifying, and it's also the most motivating thing I can imagine.
4. Creating jobs and opportunities. 🌍
Building a team that believes in the same mission and grows together is the part that excites me most.
⚖️ The Honest Part (Because Dreams Deserve Reality Checks)
| ✨ The Instagram version | 🔥 The real version |
|---|---|
| "Being my own boss!" | Your boss is now every customer, investor, and deadline |
| "Big vision, big impact" | Big spreadsheets, small runway |
| "Pitching on stage" | Pitching to 40 people who say "interesting, let's keep in touch" |
| "Launch day 🎉" | Launch day → 3 signups (2 are your mom) |
| "Freedom" | Freedom to work 80 hours on whatever you want |
I know all this and I still want it. Maybe that's how you know it's a dream and not just a job. 😄
🎲 Plot Twist: It Doesn't Have to Be My Startup
The CEO dream has a second version: becoming CEO of someone else's startup. Joining as early talent, growing with the company, earning the trust of the team, and eventually leading it.
Both paths are valid. Both are hard. Both are awesome.

Yeee peak broness
I mean, I have a controller page to control the car. But I haven't added customization (like adjusting control positions, resizing, etc., and saving them in localStorage). Also, I need a steering wheel on the left side (steering is not yet done, so you can just log the value for now). The whole page is a single HTML file so it will be consistent with your workflow. Are you interested?
Oh wow sounds interesting but what do you mean? Means one more acquire deal 😆
No no no not acquire deal 😆 I mean you help me make the controller for my car, and I put Akhouri Systems in my "Sponsored By" list!
Ohh bro wrong timing lol 😆 😂 I'm struggling to hard to handle Dev.to posting and you are saying me to help your product

When I was 8–9 years old, I could barely remember what I had for breakfast, and here are kids that age already acting like they have a PhD in life. 🤣
How are kids so smart at this age? At their age, my brain was still deciding whether to watch cartoons or take a nap. 😂
Honestly, I’m starting to regret.🤣
Same here 🥲 I wish I had a laptop at that age. But I was trying to write a book on philosophy lol 🤣 When I was in 3rd, 4th or something. I was very interested in that kind of stuff at that time.

Um, Ok... 🫡
If you dream big, you win big.
Ok dreaming big! 🐘 I am asking my peers to build the car body for me but they're saying to wait for the sem break lol. I am thinking about doing everything myself. But I don't have money so I couldn't do that.
It all boils down to money🙃
Yep. I am trying to do everything else so I can complete the rest fast once I get the hardware.
Don't worry, everything gets better with time. 🙃
By the way, I’ve spoken to several students over Zoom, and they shared some of the problems they were facing.

Yeah! But the real fun is at the fair. 🤔
see discord I'm now back from mall and see the aura stuff
never eaten pizza, never done shopping in mall bro that's peak calm life dude
You 3's threads are always hilarious 😂 How'd it go from career to OS design to mall crawling?
Ngl, go for it, but 1 thing I'd warn against, drop the linux kernel. Why build on what's already been built? You cant dethrone linux and windows, by forking them? I'm actually quite a ways in on 2 operating systems, 1 is a universal OS, that focuses on JIT compiling for running apps from other OS's (currently got notepad++ from windows working on it). The other is built explicitly for running WASM. Wasm is self-contained apps, sandboxed by nature, so there's really no need for an OS when the entire concept is to bypass the OS? So keeping it lean, so it's purpose built for running wasm, if a wasm app is 50mb of memory, then literally just stripping out linux gives 10 apps worth of capacity? Or atleast that's the theory.
You're a smart kid, very few of us dream of writing our own OS, for me it was 6 years old, my dad bought a lot of pcs at auction, so I wanted to write an OS that can run across all the pcs at once, so I can have my own personal 'super computer', not quite there yet, but I can officially use all my pcs at once to do a single task (via my IDE), so that's a step in the right direction.
You really should push for it, see what you can do, you have a unique perspective and you can create a better OS than linux and windows!
bro that was my over stupid thought in my age 8-9 why you took it seriously lol, do you think a app dev in fact like me can build a OS 😂
Well if I could, why cant you? Building an OS is surprisingly easy, making it useful is where it gets hard... So you can genuinely do it. Dont discard childhood dreams, they're probably the strongest driving force you can have. In some way, that dream probably lead to you becoming a developer?
Yeah bro you're right that fire 🔥 came In me due to my childhood you are really legend 😆.... but for now I've no plan to build AKHOURIOS lol
AKHOURI OS! 🤣🤣
Going to Discord... 🏃
Hey the future is a long time... You can always build it later? No need to rush, speaking from experience, building an OS is time consuming and best left as a hobby project. Like Dwarven Stronghold, 11m lines of code in and I'm still debugging the sim:render bridge. Some projects arent weekend projects and you likely will lose interest in them and come back at a later stage to continue, but you come back with the knowledge you didnt have before.
Example would be my foundry, I built it start of the year, true prompt to binary execution, but it was way too expensive to be practical, so I shelved it, worked on other things, now I'm back at it, because LLMs got cheaper and I built the tooling that makes it achievable. Even my failed hiring process at Wasmer was helpful, because it gave me a broader perspective on the use-cases of WASM and how I can use that for the tool server, now I have the only MCP server that can dynamically register tools (i.e. no restarts) and it can run just about any tool from any language. Small things that seem like detours, are actually just the winding path to destiny, so dont forget those old dreams, you never know, they might just be your future?
You mean 1m lines right? Or is it 11m right now?!
if he means 11million then ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
even if he said 1million still: ☠️☠️☠️☠️
@effessdev bro I'm about to post a post now
is it okay now?
Yes! But why are you asking permission? 🤣🤣
you're CTO
I'm not like some 12yr guys...
Going to the latest post 🛻
okay 👌
eleven million lines of rust code.
@akhourianmolkumar It was 11 lol! ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
Also happy birthday @technogamerz ! 🎂🎂🎂🎂 Small mistake my mom's birthday was Nov 3rd lol (I can't believe but I still remember her birthday to be the day before my birthday, which is Nov 2 but it's actually Nov 3 doesn't make any sense).
Anyway still coincidence: Nov 1: @technogamerz Nov 2: @effessdev Nov3: @effessdev mom!
Thanks so much! 🥰😍❤️
Happy birthday didiiiiiiiiiiii
Thank youuuu!!!❤️🙏🏻
Oh so you too a founder and CEO?
Lol not op than that legend 7yr+ experience Dev lol 😆
My dream job is to be a vagabond.
Honestly, I don’t like labels, because each one is a bit of a trap. I prefer to look at the world with a much more open mind. I feel good when I manage to find some kind of balance across all the dimensions of life: personal life, hobbies, work, faith, digital and physical reality. Right now, I feel I’m exactly where I need to be.
When I was young, of course, I got caught up in the world of computer games, and that has stayed with me ever since. A few years ago, I still described myself as a game developer, but that’s just a tiny slice of who I am, and actually quite far from who I want to become. I see programming as a form of artistic expression. Maybe that’s why I’m glad the pieces finally came together and Singularity News CCG was born: a card game carrying one of my important messages, a kind of distorting mirror held up to the world. But coding itself can also be art. I’d compare the pure HTML, no-build concept here to that samurai story about Musashi, where a master convinces him he still has room to grow with a single clean cut through a rose stem. Here, too, you can see the cut, and the speed is there. The cleanness of the cut is still questionable. Even so, I consider it another milestone.
But the road ahead may still hold surprises. Just like the surprise of waking up the next day and realizing that, in one of my articles, I’d accidentally created a rather unusual, experimental short story. I’m going to publish it as a book, so I could say writing isn’t far from me either. Besides, I already have two other books in my head.
Strictly in the interest of balance, there’s also the back-to-nature side: gardening and the house-building project. And my closely related obsession with small trucks. I have a plan for that too. I want to actually build this vehicle. Of course, no such car ever existed: I want to turn an old Polish van, the Żuk, into a pickup. I just need to learn car mechanics, welding, and a few other things. One thing in my favor is that I trained as an aircraft mechanic in secondary school.

So, all of this, all at once. Or, in a few words: The Vibe Archeologist.
Bro mine is founder & ceo of my own startup
🙌
That's your current job!
Hahaha bro
Yeah bro is flexing 😄
😆 🤣
Yeah we are same 😆
Same same but different
I don't have a dream job.
I have dreams,
and there are jobs that I don't hate 🤣🥰
Lol 😆 🤣
I strongly suspect the three of you are playing Snake 😆
Playing snake means?
🤔
Either 1️⃣ (Founder / CEO) or 2️⃣ (dev role). Both are good!
Yeah but 1 is absolute Cinema
🎯 Dream job: Creator of the first real AGI
🧠 Why this one: I've always been fascinated by how intelligent systems work and my opinions are usually unorthodox, which is precisely why I think it's achievable.
🛠️ What I'm doing right now to get there: Experimenting with alternatives to MatMul for intelligence.
😅 The scariest part: Building it, is a research project at best, impossible to make money off it, until it's working... The problem with intelligence, is that there's a threshold, I could have created it 6 months ago and still not know if it actually works, because it takes time to mature.
💡 One piece of advice I'd give someone with the same dream: If someone else is doing it, they're probably doing it wrong. Think outside the box, AGI isnt a 'smarter LLM', it's an entirely different breed of intelligence.
Out of curiosity @akhourianmolkumar what's your opinion about 'prompt to binary' and building the most comprehensive AI orchestration system possible? Does that count as something that matters and would you enjoy working on something like that?
Entrepreneurship, for sure. I'm already working towards it, building from the ground up with whatever resources I have. There's a lot to figure out along the way, but I'm committed to making it happen.
